The first field study was conducted within the scope of the project DKMP26-1, entitled “Dynamic Effects of Traffic-Induced Vibrations on Fairy Chimneys,” carried out by the Departments of Civil Engineering and Geological Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. İsmail DİNÇER, a faculty member of the Department of Geological Engineering, and led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman AKYÜREK of the Department of Civil Engineering, the project team also includes Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut YÜCEL and Assist. Prof. Dr. Renan SINANMIŞ BALCI, both faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering, serving as researchers. As part of the initial field study, investigations were carried out at two different fairy chimneys located in the districts of Göreme and Avanos in Nevşehir.
During the field study, the mounting locations for the triaxial accelerometers to be used in the dynamic measurements planned for subsequent stages were identified. In addition, the installation of the mounting screws required to securely fasten the instruments was completed.
These activities mark the completion of the initial phase of establishing the field measurement infrastructure required to monitor the dynamic effects of road traffic-induced vibrations on fairy chimneys. In the subsequent stages of the project, the accelerometers are planned to be installed at the designated locations, and vibration measurements will be conducted under various conditions.
